MTN Ghana celebrated the successful completion of its 2025 Graduate Development Programme on 20 November 2025 at the Marriott Hotel in Accra. The ceremony, which brought together participants from across MTN’s African markets, marked the graduation of 80 young professionals – a milestone in the company’s effort to promote gender inclusion and develop future leaders.

Abdallah Ibrahim, Acting Chief Human Resource Officer for MTN Ghana, highlighted the programme’s role in advancing female representation within the organization. “We have leveraged the Graduate Development Programme to drive female representation,” he said. “About 60 % of the graduate delegates are women, and this aligns with our goal of reaching 50 % female representation by 2030.” He added that since the company began tracking gender metrics in 2020, female staff numbers have risen by roughly five percentage points to the current 43 %.

Sylvia Owusu‑Ankomah, Chief Executive Officer of the Telecoms Chamber, praised MTN’s commitment to African talent development, especially the high proportion of women among the graduates. “It is exciting to see that over 60 % of today’s graduates are women,” she remarked, encouraging the new graduates to remain authentic in a competitive digital environment.

Kagiso Malepe, Manager of the MTN Global Graduate Programme, described the programme’s central challenge as integrating individuals from diverse countries, cultures and backgrounds into a unified MTN identity. “Our biggest task is harmonising diverse perspectives and helping participants immerse themselves in MTN’s organisational culture,” he explained. “With MTN operating across multiple markets, the message of ‘one culture, one MTN’ is fundamental.”

The 80 graduates, representing 18 African countries, received certificates and are expected to assume roles that support MTN’s broader objective of nurturing African leaders in technology, digital services and business innovation. The programme, which has now produced over 500 leaders since its inception, underscores MTN’s long‑term investment in talent development across the continent.
