NADMO Clarifies Dumansua Quarry Operations Not Galamsey

The Offinso South NADMO Directorate has debunked claims of illegal mining in Dumansua, stating that activities in the area are from a licensed quarry site, not galamsey.
Director Hon. Wiafe Mohammed said a site visit confirmed sand-winning trucks operating from the quarry, which holds permits from the Minerals Commission and has paid community compensation. He explained that quarrying is distinct from illegal mining and has minimal environmental impact.
Mohammed urged residents to verify information before making allegations and appealed to the quarry company to fulfil its promise of building a footbridge for the community.
The Forestry Commission of Offinso also denied reports of illegal mining, saying monitoring had found no evidence, and directed inquiries to the EPA and Minerals Commission. NADMO stressed the need for cooperation between companies and communities to ensure sustainable development.
