Youth Advocate Urges Asokwa MCE to Convert Interchange into Permanent Youth Hub

Youth advocate and stakeholder Amoh Mensah Mark has appealed to Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive Amoh Kamel to turn the Asokwa Interchange into a permanent recreational and creative arts centre, building on the success of the Ashanti Festival 2026 Street Arts Festival.

In an open letter, Mr. Mensah praised the festival — led by Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene — for showcasing young talent and energising the municipality, but asked: “What happens after the festival?”

He argued that a permanent facility would create jobs for artists and service providers, support local businesses, offer skills training, and boost tourism. At a time of high youth unemployment, he said, “this is not merely an idea — it is a strategic necessity.”

Mr. Mensah urged the Assembly to engage youth groups, pursue public-private partnerships and integrate the plan into its development agenda. “The youth of Asokwa are watching, they are hopeful, and they are expecting leadership that responds with action,” he wrote.

He said the festival had provided a blueprint, and that bold decisions now could leave a lasting legacy for Asokwa’s young people.
