Sekyere Kumawu District Launches Monthly Environmental Hygiene Exercise

The Sekyere Kumawu District has initiated a monthly clean-up exercise, held on the first Saturday of every month, aiming to promote a clean and healthy environment.
The programme was instituted after the current government took over from the previous NPP administration.
According to Mr Kwasi Amankwah,the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, explained that on September 6, 2025, community members demonstrated new skills in cleaning various areas, divided into groups led by assembly members, unit committee members, and traditional leaders.
The participants included the Kumawu Ambulance Service, Police, and other security officers joining the clean-up efforts.
Mr. Kwasi Amankwa encouraged the involvement of families and neighbors, stressing clean environment importance for health
Mr. Amankwa emphasized maintaining cleanliness for healthy living, urging to maintain the initiative.
Mr. Emmanuel Appia-Kubi, District Coordinating Director advised on healthy living and avoiding littering.
The District Environmental Health Director, Mr Richard Adams also encouraged reporting improper waste disposal and promoting community vigilance.
He stressed that the Environmental Cleanliness would foster a clean and healthy environment through regular community involvement.
He expressed the importance of the engagement of residents in maintaining public hygiene and reporting environmental concerns.
