AGA Obuasi Constructs and Commissions CHP Compound at Mammiriwa No. 2

Anglo Gold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine, through its Community Trust Fund, has constructed and commissioned a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHP) compound with ancillary facilities and Nurses’ quarters at Mammiriwa No. 2, in the Obuasi Municipal of the Ashanti Region.
The project represents a significant milestone in the provision and access to quality healthcare delivery for the communities within its reach.
Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei, Community Relations Manager, AGA Obuasi Mine, stated that the Trust Fund was established in 2012 to support local initiatives in health, water, sanitation and hygiene, education, and skills development for the youth.
AGA has contributed a total of GHC 22,787,550.64 to the Trust Fund towards impactful projects and initiatives. The company’s commitment to community development is reflected in its purpose statement, “mining to empower people and advance societies.
Deputizing for the Municipal Health Director, Dr. Kwadwo Asamoah Nyarko Jectey, Medical Superintendent, Obuasi Government Hospital, extended his appreciation and gratitude to the management of AGA for the magnificent edifice. He urged the community to take proper care of the facility and maintain it, stressing that maintenance begins with its proper usage.
Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, Chief Executive, Obuasi Municipal Assembly, indicated that the ceremony was not a mere commissioning of the facility but to commission a beacon of hope, symbol of improved healthcare, and what can be achieved through genuine partnership. He congratulated all stakeholders whose cooperation and dedication made the project possible.
The CHP compound and Nurses’ quarters would undoubtedly improve healthcare delivery in the municipality, providing a safe and healthy environment for nurses and ensuring patients receive quality healthcare.
The facility would help dwindle unscaled deliveries and maternal mortality.
