NDC Official Denies Allegations Against Ashanti Regional Minister
From Ernest Best Anane, Kumasi
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied allegations that the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, is involved in illegal mining activities (galamsey).
Speaking at a press conference, Isham Alhassan, Ashanti Regional Organiser of the NDC, as well as Ashanti Regional Political Coordinator described the allegations as “baseless and without merit”.
He said the Minister has always championed sustainable development and environmental protection, working to promote responsible mining practices and combat illegal mining in the region.
Mr. Alhassan challenged anyone with evidence of the Minister’s involvement in illegal mining to come forward, stating that the Minister is committed to transparency and accountability and will cooperate fully with any investigation.
He warned against attempts to tarnish the Minister’s reputation, saying Dr. Amoakohene is doing an “overwhelming job” in the region and is focused on his work.
Mr. Alhassan also cautioned NDC members against making public statements that could harm the Minister’s image.
The NDC official has offered to resign from his position if anyone produces evidence of the Minister’s involvement in galamsey.
