The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has launched a major initiative to improve reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAHN) across the region.
Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Fred Adomako Boateng unveiled the project, which aims to strengthen “Networks of Practice” among health facilities. The approach links hospitals, clinics and CHPS compounds in coordinated systems to share expertise, mentor staff and improve referrals.
“Frontline providers remain the backbone of our health system,” Dr. Boateng said at the event, attended by health workers, development partners and journalists. “When facilities are connected, they can support one another, improve clinical decisions and ensure patients receive timely care.”
The initiative will focus on better care coordination, mentorship and data use to strengthen services for mothers, children and adolescents. Health experts say it will help address persistent challenges such as maternal mortality and neonatal complications.
Dr. Boateng called for sustained collaboration among government agencies, health workers, community leaders and the media, stressing: “This initiative is about people — the mothers, children and young people whose lives depend on the quality of care we provide.”
