NDC Dismisses “Kenkey‑Seller” Stunt as Cheap Propaganda
By Ernest Best Anane
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned a recent stunt in which alleged women organisers from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) were allegedly filmed selling kenkey for ten cedis, a scene the NDC says was choreographed by NPP activist Miracle Aboagye.
Mr. Agbenya Precious, National Communication Team Member of the NDC in a statement said the episode was “nothing but a desperate propaganda stunt aimed at painting the NDC in a negative light.
He added, “Ghanaians are not fools, and that  cheap drama has failed and will continue to fail.
The NDC Communicator reiterated the government of NDC commitment to “real issues and the real promises made to the people,” insisting that no amount of “lies or stage‑managed theatrics” could distract the party from its agenda, as the government stand tall and move forward as Victory is inevitable.
He stated that the alleged video, which surfaced on social media over the weekend, shows a group of women in NPP attire handing out kenkey to passers‑by while a voice in the background is heard directing the scene. Miracle Aboagye, a known NPP member, has been named in online commentary as the person who allegedly arranged the performance.
According to him, efforts to reach the NPP for comment were unsuccessful; the party has not issued an official response to the accusations.
He stressed that observers note that such publicity stunts, whether genuine grassroots activity or orchestrated campaigns, have become a familiar feature of Ghana’s electoral cycle, often serving to galvanize supporters rather than sway undecided voters.
Mr Agbenya reiterated that the party’s strong reaction underscores the sensitivity of media‑driven narratives in the current political climate, and resolve to maintain focus on what it describes as substantive policy issues.
