The Ghana Private Newspapers and Online Publishers Association (PRINPAG) has commended the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) for organizing a sensitization workshop on the newly launched Guide for Journalists on Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs), Progressive Taxation, Reserve-Based Lending, and Domestic Resource Mobilization Reporting.
Mr. Isaac Amoah,The Managing Editor of The New Trust newspaper,  Speaking on behalf of PRINPAG, commended MFWA for providing a timely resource to equip the media with the skills, legal frameworks, and investigative techniques needed to expose financial crimes that cost Ghana an estimated $1.4-$3 billion annually.
The guide, launched earlier this year in Accra, aims to promote accountability and drive change in national development.
Mr. Amoah urged editors and senior journalists to commit fully to using the guide in their work, warning against shelving it after the training. He emphasized the need for consistent application to ensure reporting standards are harmonized across media houses.
He also called on journalists to uphold the ethics of the profession, deliver balanced and accurate reportage, and use the guide as a common reference point to prevent misinformation and disinformation on IFF-related issues.
Mr. Amoah assured the foundation of PRINPAG’s continued collaboration to block revenue leakages and safeguard funds for national development, and commended the foundation for extending the sensitization to the Ashanti region.
The sensitization workshop forms part of MFWA’s efforts to raise awareness about IFFs and empower the media to play an active role in fiscal justice advocacy.
