
NPA CEO Pledges “Efficiency and Innovation Towards 2026
Mr Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe,The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector through enhanced regulatory oversight and consumer-focused innovations.
Speaking at the 77th Annual New Year School and Conference at the University of Ghana, Mr. Tameklo outlined a strategic vision for 2026 prioritizing quality compliance, safety, and fuel transportation monitoring. Since his appointment in January 2025, he has led reforms to stabilize the industry and protect Ghanaians’ welfare.
The NPA has strengthened local content, overseen a new LPG storage facility, and implemented a Driver Remuneration Formula. Mr. Tameklo stated, “Together, we have strengthened the Authority’s regulatory mandate and laid firm foundations for sustainable growth.”
The NPA defends its fuel price floor policy, citing prevention of predatory pricing, and advocates for revitalizing the Tema Oil Refinery to boost domestic refining capacity. The focus is on supporting the 24-hour economy initiative, ensuring fuel availability and regulatory support.
