The Parents‑Teachers Association (PTA) of Nkawie Secondary Technical School in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality, Ashanti Region, has drawn attention to the acute shortage of basic facilities that is hampering teaching and learning, even as the school maintains a reputation for academic excellence.

At a brief ceremony on Tuesday, PTA Chairman Mr. Mohammed Natogmah (also known as “AKOKODROUFO”) presented 100 modern dual desks to the school. The donation, valued at more than Gh¢¢15,000 approximately 150 million old cedis, is intended to ease overcrowding in classrooms and improve the learning environment.

Speaking to with the media after the hand‑over, Mr. Natogmah expressed his concern over the broader infrastructural deficits.  Says despite the commendable performance of our students, the school continues to operate without adequate classrooms, laboratories and sanitation facilities. And that the desks are a small step, but  need more concerted effort from government, NGOs and philanthropists to address the larger gaps.

Headmistress Mrs. Faustina Sekyere, speaking on behalf of the school board, staff and students, thanked the PTA for the generous contribution.  Says the desks will greatly enhance the learning experience for our pupils, and we pledge to instill a culture of proper maintenance so that they serve their purpose for many years.

Mrs. Sekyere also appealed for additional support, noting that the school still lacks essential infrastructure such as a science laboratory, library and adequate latrines.

The school, which serves a largely rural catchment area, has been recognized regionally for its strong academic results, but officials warn that without substantial investment in facilities, the quality of education could deteriorate.

Stakeholders, including local assembly members and traditional leaders, have echoed the call for more assistance, emphasizing that improved infrastructure is vital not only for academic achievement but also for the overall development of the community.

The PTA has indicated that it will continue to seek partnerships and funding opportunities to address the school’s pressing needs, urging anyone interested in supporting Nkawie Secondary Technical School to contact the headmistress’s office.
