NDC Communicator Backs Julius Debrah for 2028 Flagbearer

Mr. Abambila John, a member of the Ashanti Regional communications team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has thrown his weight behind Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah as the party’s potential flagbearer for the 2028 general election, succeeding President John Mahama.

In an interview with “The Media, Mr. John expressed widespread support for Debrah among Ghanaians, citing interactions with various groups including traders, businessmen, youths and drivers. “Ghanaians want Hon. Julius Debrah to succeed H.E. John Mahama… they’re yearning for Julius Debrah to lead us to victory in 2028,” he stated.

Mr. John commended Mr. Debrah’s humility and respect, showcased during his roles as MP, minister and Chief of Staff.
He is appealing to the NDC’s National Executive Committee and Functional Executive Committee to support Debrah when the time comes.
Mr. John believes the NDC would win with Debrah as flagbearer, saying “we’ll all help him to win and become the next president.

He mentioned other names in the context of the 2028 NDC flagbearer race include that includes Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, Tipped by Global InfoAnalytics polls as a frontrunner, Ato Forson Ranked second in some polls,  Mr. Asiedu Nketia, NDC National Chairman, ranked third in certain assessments.

The NDC is expected to hold primaries in 2027 to select its candidate for the 2028 general elections, as President Mahama’s second term nears its end.
