NDC Chairman Predicts NPP Collapse as Mahama’s Government Shows Strong Economic Gains
From Ernest Best Anane, Agogo/Ash
At a sod‑cutting ceremony marking the start of a 124‑kilometre road reconstruction under the government’s “Big Push” programme,
Mr. Peter Abaje, Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Asante Akim North, said the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on the verge of collapse because of the Mahama‑led administration’s outstanding economic performance.
Speaking to a gathering of party supporters, traditional leaders and local officials, Mr. Abaje expressed confidence that continued good governance by the NDC would keep the NPP out of power for the foreseeable future.
According to him If the NDC keeps delivering improvements in every sector of the economy, the NPP will not see the light of day anytime soon.
He reiterated the NDC’s claim that it does not discriminate when distributing the national cake, regardless of political affiliation or region, and described the party as the “people’s choice.
Mr. Abaje urged Ghanaians to rally behind the Mahama administration to achieve the “reset agenda,” implement prudent measures to revive the economy and create jobs for the country’s unemployed youth.
The chairman also criticized the NPP, describing it as a party that, after elections, looks only after its friends, families and cronies rather than the broader electorate.
He stressed that the NDC must always be given the mandate to bring every Ghanaian together through total development.
The road project, funded through the Consolidated Fund, is expected to be completed within two years and will link several communities in the constituency, improving access to markets and social services.
The ceremony was attended by engineers from the contracting firms and representatives of local traditional authorities, all of whom applauded the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
