Ashanti Regional Police Command Secures Conviction of Three Armed Robbers

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the successful conviction and sentencing of three armed robbery suspects for their involvement in a robbery incident that occurred at Boubai in the Asokore Mampong Municipality. The suspects, Mamudu Issah (18), Samuel Takyi (18), and Alhassan Abubakari (18), were sentenced to imprisonment by the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of Public Affairs Unit/Ash, the robbery occurred on July 1, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The suspects, armed with machetes and riding on two unregistered motorbikes, attacked and robbed residents of mobile phones, bags, and cash. Thanks to the timely intervention of community volunteers, the three suspects were apprehended at their hideout in Aboabo later that same day.
The court handed down the following sentences with Mamudu Issah 10 years’ imprisonment on each of the robbery-related charges and 3 years for causing harm to run concurrently.
Samuel Takyi and Alhassan Abubakari*: 10 years’ imprisonment each on the robbery-related charges to run concurrently.
The Regional Police Command expressed appreciation to members of the public, particularly the community volunteers, for their swift response and cooperation in the operation. The Police encouraged the public to support policing efforts and promptly report suspicious activities.
