MTN Ghana, in collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), has launched a road safety training program for its drivers and staff in the Northern Business District. The initiative aims to reduce road accidents and promote a culture of safety on Ghana’s roads.

Speaking at the event, a representative from MTN Ghana emphasized the importance of road safety, citing alarming statistics from January to October 2025, which showed 11,000 road crashes, resulting in over 2,400 deaths and 12,000 injuries. “These figures pose a national and global safety threat,” he said.

The training program covers key areas, including hazard recognition and risk assessment, safe driving under varying conditions, vehicle inspection and maintenance, and compliance with Ghana’s traffic regulations.

MTN Ghana has a strong reputation for its safety programs, with its drivers previously winning corporate road safety awards in Ghana. The company’s road safety policy mandates strict adherence to Ghana’s road traffic laws, with disciplinary action applicable for any breach.

The training is part of MTN Ghana’s commitment to ensuring the protection of its employees, passengers, and all road users. By collaborating with certified training partners like the MTTD, MTN Ghana continues to implement best practices in corporate driver training, helping reduce accidents and promote a culture of safety on Ghana’s roads.
