NDC Ashanti Regional Organizer Calls for Unity and Renewed Commitment in New‑Year Message

From Ernest Best Anane, Kumasi

In a New‑Year press statement released on Monday, Isham Alhassan, the Ashanti Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a declared hopeful for the regional chairmanship, urged party members, volunteers and critics alike to rally around the party as it prepares for a period of introspection and restructuring.

Mr. Alhassan thanked the NDC faithful for their “continued support and trust in the government,” saying that such backing has helped to unify the party’s base and project an image of inclusiveness at a time when the NDC is expected to reorganize and redefine its leadership approach. “Our collective effort has shown that we can move forward together, even as we confront our differences,” he said.

He pledged to “serve better, listen deeper, and lead with a clearer sense of responsibility,” emphasizing his intention to remain actively engaged in both national and party affairs. Positioning himself as a voice of experience and hope, Alhassan expressed confidence that his leadership could help shape the party’s future political landscape.

The statement, anchored in reflection, hope and a call for national unity, stressed the importance of collective responsibility and togetherness. “We must love one another despite our differences and focus on unity, so that the NDC becomes a stronger and more vibrant political party in Ghana,” Alhassan added.

The New‑Year message comes as the NDC prepares for internal elections and seeks to consolidate its grassroots support ahead of the 2026 elections. Party leaders have welcomed Alhassan’s call for unity, noting that a cohesive front will be essential for the NDC’s success in the coming year
