Mama Love Foundation, an Obuasi-based non-profit organization, has donated cash to youth and women in Obuasi to support their business endeavors. The gesture, which forms part of the foundation’s commitment to empower the less privileged and vulnerable in society, aims to provide financial stability and independence.
The donation was made at a youth and women empowerment summit organized by the foundation on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Dr. Love Konadu, President of Mama Love Foundation, explained that the foundation’s goal is to support individuals who are motivated to start their own businesses but lack the necessary resources.
The foundation also made cash donations to widows in the community, citing the struggles they face in providing for their families. Dr. Konadu stated, “We are not oblivious to the struggles of widows in our society. And as an NGO that supports the cause of women, they decided to intervene and lessen their plights.
In total, Mama Love Foundation donated GH₵ 50,000 to over 50 youth and women. Nana Serwaa Bruwaa, Akrokerrihemaa, commended the foundation for its consistent support for the marginalized in society and admonished women to venture into business and become economically independent.
The foundation also recognized individuals and groups who have excelled in their field of endeavor and those who have worked to support the empowerment of women. Five women who completed apprenticeship training in fashion design were among those recognized.
Gertrude Coffie, Municipal Director of Legal Aid in Obuasi, lamented the inhumane treatment of some widows in the country and called on residents to patronize the services of the Legal Aid office. She emphasized the importance of supporting vulnerable individuals in society [3].
