Kwabre East MCE Leads Community Clean‑Up Ahead of Festive Season

The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwabre East, Mr. Joseph Amankwah, rallied residents of Mamponteng, the municipal capital, in a lively clean‑up drive on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The effort, timed to usher in a tidy and healthy festive season, saw volunteers sweeping streets, clearing gutters, and collecting litter that had accumulated in public spaces.

Speaking to the media after the exercise, Mr. Amankwah stressed that a clean environment not only safeguards public health but also boosts the municipality’s attractiveness and economic potential. He urged citizens to keep littering and illegal dumping out of drains, warning that such practices pose serious health risks.

The MCE revealed the Assembly’s ongoing commitment to improving waste‑management services and called on everyone to support these initiatives.

The clean‑up is part of a broader municipal program that includes a recent de‑congestion campaign aimed at easing pedestrian traffic by removing traders from pavements. With the Christmas holidays approaching, officials hope the cleaner streets will encourage shoppers and visitors to spend more time and money in local markets.

While the community worked up a sweat, the weather was typical for this time of year: Accra recorded partly cloudy skies and a current temperature of 87 °F, while nearby Kumasi was even warmer with highs around

The initiative has already earned praise from residents who say the effort makes Mamponteng a more pleasant place to live and work.
