Kumawood Board Inaugurated to Revamp Industry

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has inaugurated an 8-member board to oversee the Kumawood film industry.
The board, chaired by Bishop David Opoku, with Mr. Emmanuel Opoku Anane as the General Secretary, is tasked with revamping the industry.
The board members were elected from various domains within the industry to lead the Kumawood Ashanti Film Association.
Mr. Anane emphasized the need for unity among board members to support the Regional Minister’s vision for reviving the industry, as efficient performance would create employment opportunities for talented youth.
According to the secretary to the Board explained that the objectives of revival of the industry includes Develop strategies to restore Kumawood’s former glory,
Employment Opportunities, Create jobs for youth in the industry
Address Industry Challenges, Review roadmap reports to identify and address issues affecting the industry
The board will work closely with the Regional Minister to implement recommendations from a 17-member committee that assessed the industry’s challenges.
Dr. Amoakohene has emphasized the importance of unity among industry stakeholders, stating that collective effort will drive government support.
This initiative aims to promote Ghanaian films, strengthen film infrastructure and provide training opportunities for industry players. With Kumawood facing significant challenges in recent years, the board’s efforts are expected to play a vital role in shaping the industry’s future.
