Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Klottey-Korle Constituency, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. As Chairperson of the Committee on Security and Intelligence, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings expressed her appreciation for the Asantehene’s continued guidance, describing him as her uncle.

The security situation in areas experiencing prolonged conflict was a major topic of discussion. Both Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings and the Asantehene shared concerns about the welfare of affected communities and the need for sustainable peace.
The Asantehene emphasized the importance of dialogue and culturally grounded approaches to peace-building, highlighting his long-standing role in conflict resolution.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings shared insights from a recent engagement with the All Regions Queenmothers’ Association, focusing on women’s representation, queenmothers’ involvement in peace-building, and preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage.

The visit underscored the strong ties between Ghana’s traditional and political institutions. Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized the need to bridge the gap between modern governance and indigenous authority, stressing that collaboration between traditional institutions and modern governance structures is essential for inclusive development and sustainable peace.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision to deepen national unity, enhance security, and strengthen the role of traditional leaders, particularly Queen mothers, in shaping inclusive development. This visit reflects the deep bonds between Ghana’s traditional and political leadership, highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation in addressing national challenges.
