China’s CATIC Delegation Meets Ghana’s Deputy Defence Minister to Boost Defence and Tech Cooperation
By Ernest Best Anane
A high‑level delegation from the China National Aero‑Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC) held talks with Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, at The Ministry of Defence Square in Accra earlier last week.
The meeting centred on deepening Ghana‑China defence ties, with particular emphasis on personnel training and the construction of a new National Defence University headquarters that will house the country’s National College of Defence Studies.
Both sides expressed a strong desire to expand military‑to‑military cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration that could benefit Ghana’s security architecture.
The visit comes on the heels of President John Dramani Mahama’ s recent state visit to China, which reinforced the two nations’ commitment to strengthening defence and technology partnerships.
China’s defence attaché in Ghana, Colonel Dou Yan, affirmed Beijing’s readiness to support Ghana’s defence‑education reforms and extended an invitation to Deputy Minister Genfi to visit China for further engagement.
The talks are expected to pave the way for joint training programmes, technology transfers, and infrastructure projects that will enhance the capabilities of the Ghana Armed Forces and contribute to regional stability.
