Chief of Staff Urges Youth to Become Job Creators, Not Job Seekers

Mr. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, has called on Ghanaian students to become the next generation of job creators and innovators, rather than mere job seekers. Speaking at the launch of the GNCCI Junior Chamber Initiative, a collaborative project between the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) and the University of Ghana.
Mr. Debrah emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in driving inclusive development.
The Chief of Staff noted that the initiative represents a strategic national intervention designed to equip students with the skills, networks, and platforms needed to contribute to Ghana’s economic transformation.
He expressed concern over the alarming number of unemployed young Ghanaians, with 1.4 million youth unemployed, including 22.3% tertiary graduates.
GNCCI Junior Chamber Initiative Aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical business experience, empowering students to become job creators.
The government will partner with the GNCCI Junior Chamber to facilitate exposure visits for students to successful local entrepreneurs, manufacturing sites and the Office of the President.
He disclosed that the 24-Hour Economy is a strategic vision for Africa’s next industrial hub, designed to create opportunities for youth employment and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Debrah commended the University of Ghana and GNCCI for partnering on the initiative, which aligns with government programs like the Adwumawura Project and the 24-Hour Economy Policy.
He urged policymakers to provide opportunities for young people to showcase their potential and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
The Chief of Staff emphasized that the future of Ghana’s economy lies in the hands of its youth, encouraging them to dream big and take action to achieve their goals. The GNCCI Junior Chamber Initiative offers a platform for students to connect, grow, and build value from the ground up.
