GoldBod Enforces Mandatory Use of Receipts in Gold Transactions

GoldBod Enforces Mandatory Use of Receipts in Gold Transactions

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has begun nationwide enforcement of the mandatory use of GoldBod receipts by all licensed buyers in gold transactions.

According to the Board, licensed aggregators, self-financed aggregators, Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers are now required to issue GoldBod receipts for every purchase and sale of gold. The measure, officials say, is crucial for ensuring the validity of transactions and promoting transparency in Ghana’s gold trade.

To ensure compliance, GoldBod has deployed its Taskforce and Field Inspectors across the country. Licensed buyers have been directed to make their receipt booklets available for inspection and cooperate fully with enforcement teams.

GoldBod has also advised small-scale miners and gold traders to demand GoldBod receipts for every purchase, stressing that failure to issue receipts is a serious offence that could lead to sanctions, including suspension or revocation of a buyer’s license.

For assistance in obtaining receipt booklets, licensed buyers have been asked to contact the GoldBod License/Regulatory Unit on 0542325994, 0256072017, or 0256072012.

The Board commended licensed buyers for their cooperation so far and urged continued compliance to strengthen accountability and integrity in the gold sector.
