Deputy Defence Minister Thanks Ashanti NDC Youth Wing for Their Commitment
From Ernest Best Anane, Kumasi
Mr. Ernest Brogya Genfi, Deputy Defence Minister expressed his deep appreciation to the Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their efforts to make the party vibrant and attractive in the region.
During a meeting with Ashanti regional constituency youth organizers and their deputies in Kumasi, Mr. Genfi, who is also the former Ashanti regional youth organizer and the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Suame, acknowledged the pivotal role the youth wing has played in his political career. “I will never turn my back on you,” he told the gathering. “I will always be here to offer advice and moral support, not only during elections but at all times.
He recalled the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, when the youth’s determination helped the NDC secure overwhelming votes in the Ashanti region.
He explained that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) had run down the economy in every sector, yet they tried to cling to power because they were hiding something, and because of the vigilance and determination of the youth, the NDC was able to seal victory.”
Mr. Genfi urged the youth to remain resolute and patient, noting that the government is implementing measures to employ many unemployed young people.
He advised that If one is not directly benefiting now, stay restrained and wait for the right time, he also called for unity and a focus on building a stronger NDC in Ashanti ahead of the 2028 elections, with the aim of attracting more young people to the party.
Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene also addressed the group, assuring them that the NDC government would not overlook the efforts of the youth because the party prioritizes young people in every decision‑making process. We are investing in youth empowerment so that you become independent and are not called upon only during elections.
He disclosed that the meeting underscored the NDC’s commitment to engaging its youth base and reinforcing the party’s presence in the Ashanti region as it prepares for future political contests.
