Mineral Development Fund Recovers Over 500 Acres of Land Destroyed by Illegal Miners
From Ernest Best Anane, Kumasi
The Mineral Development Fund (MDF) has recovered over 500 acres of land destroyed by illegal miners and is nursing 1,000 seedlings to support land reclamation efforts.
Mrs. Louisa Hannah Bisue Kottey, MDF Administrator, disclosed this at the Green Ghana Walk in Kumasi, organized by MDF. The event aimed to promote a greener future and responsible mining practices.
According to her, MDF is working with licensed miners and individuals to reclaim destroyed lands.
The initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for a greener environment and alternative livelihoods for citizens in mining communities.
The MDF is also promoting sustainable mining practices, encouraging miners to adopt environmentally friendly methods and reclaim mined lands.
The organization is working with stakeholders to amplify the president’s vision and support farmers in their efforts to feed Ghana and export produce.
