From Ernest Best Anane, Mankranso

The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Abubakar Sedik, has promised to improve the existing Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds in the district to provide quality healthcare to the people.

He made the promise during a visit to Bonkwaso No. 1 to inspect a private health facility that the Assembly plans to purchase and improve.

The DCE announced that the Assembly has decided to purchase the private health facility at Bonkwaso No. 1 and build another CHPS compound at Afresini Camp to augment the existing facilities in the district.

He emphasized that the district can thrive when the people are strong and healthy.

The DCE stated that the Assembly will improve the facility with a laboratory and rehabilitate the nurses’ quarters. He believes that this initiative will help deliver quality healthcare to the people of Bonkwaso No. 1 and its environs.

The District Disease Control Officer and former Acting District Health Director, Michael Kwakye, lauded the idea, noting that it will help reduce the pressure on the Mankranso government hospital.

The Assembly Member for Bonkwaso electoral area, Kwaw Francis, applauded the DCE for listening to his plea to improve the existing CHPS compound. Martha Danso, the midwife in charge of the facility, expressed her joy at the decision and pleaded with the District Health Directorate to transfer more nurses to the facility.

The DCE, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, demonstrated his commitment to motivating healthcare workers by giving an undisclosed amount of money to the nurses as a token of appreciation for their hard work.
