NPP group wants party reform

A group call it’s self National Identifiable group of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reminded the party National Executives the need for the reformation of the party not retreat , and a call to action across the ranks and files of the party.
Mohammed Issah aka Malam Issah, Chairman of the group at a press conference disclosed that the Group is a diverse coalition of loyal, independent-minded members across the country expressed the need for the party leadership and other stakeholders, within the party to as a matter of urgency re-examined the activities and performance of the party following the the 2024 general elections defeat.
According to him, the group is united with a great concern towards the party and its founding principles, and reflected extensively on what went wrong and what must be done urgently to restore public trust and internal democracy, within the party party ahead 2028.
He stressed the group determination to help the reformation of the party reclaim its dignity in the face of the electorates irrespective of one’s political dispensation
He noted that the group is against the imposition of leaders from polling station to National Executives.
The group also recommend a bottom-up, transparent proccess where all members participate meaningfully in selecting party leaders, including the flagbearer.
He also cautioned against Compromising the Party Album, which normally sidelined alot of the members through questionable alterations to the party album.
He indicated that the group recommend a thorough, decentralized audit of the album to ensure accuracy, fairness and inclusiveness., while Expansion of the Electoral College.
According to him, a small electoral college is vulnerable to manipulation., and recommend the expansion of the voting base to include a broader representation of constituents and grassroots voices.
The group proposed the abolition of the delegates system because it has become synonymous with vote-buying and political coercion.
They also recommend establishment of impartial internal electoral commission with independent observers to ensure fairness.
Muhammad Issah expressed the need to respect mandates of Elected Officers, because encroachments on the roles of elected officers undermine organizational integrity.
The group recommend enforcing institutional discipline and allowing national and regional officers to function without interference.
The group wants the party functionaries to eradicate favouritism and d to. recommend fairness and meritocracy be the guiding principles for appointments, endorsements, and recognition.
The urge the National Council, National Executive Committee, Council of Elders to open doors to internal reforms for the party’s future depends not on repeating the past but on transformation base on bold, honest restructuring.
